1st ED. 103pp. 19 col & 2 b/w plates & 2 maps. vg cond. dj good cond, scratch on back. Salvage of the East Indiaman, Dodington which struck Bird Island off Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 1755. It sank with the major part of Robert Clive’s wealth, £3,000 in gold coin. Also her valuable cargo included 36,000 ounces of silver in pieces of eight and cannon for the defence of India. |
