Description 1st ED. 201pp. 11 b/w plates, 4 illus & maps on ep’s. vg cond, previous owner’s inscription reverse of front fep. dj fair, price clipped, lightly chipped on edges, 70mm x 40mm piece missing from rear botton edge. The author recounts the exploits of this famous flagship of the Royal Navy and the men who served on her up to the fateful afternoon when, in a flat calm and riding at anchor off Southsea, she sank in 15 minutes with the loss of eight to nine hundred lives. His explanation for it’s loss is supported by contemporary accounts and the evidence of a naval architect. He also tells the story of all the diving and salvage operations carried out by John Dean and Colonel Pasley.
