1st ED. 152pp. prof illus in col & b/w with line illus on eps. vg cond. dj fair, chipped on edges, 32mm closed tear front top edge, 2 x 10mm closed tears back top edge. The story of the largest single loss of life on the Great Lakes, North America, during the War of 1812. On Lake Ontartio in the early morning hours of August 8th 1813, the schooners Hamilton & Scourge were caught in a sudden squal and sank in a depth of 300ft (90m). In 1971 a search was initiated and in 1975 their resting places were confirmed. In 1982 a photogaphic survey of both vessels was conducted. |
