Listed are some fifteen hundred ships, vessels naval and mercantile, of many nations whose tribulations were covered in the national and local newspapers as well as the specialist press like the Naval Chronicle. Given the sheer number of craft lost at sea, it cannot be entirely exhaustive, but no other book contains so much non-technical information on the maritime disasters of the period 1793-1815. |
